The huge art piece is sculpted from solid adobe and shows abstract figures of a woman in a sitting position and holding a child. The child, meanwhile, clings on the head of his mother. This is my first time to visit the national museum it was so amazing for the different art work  of artist. The entire museum is one large work of art made up of thousands of smaller pieces. To help help the student make connections to artworks based on their life experiences, show the students different pictures from the museum, like fine art, archaeology, ethnography and national history.

It is said that studies show that the arts educated children raise their academic achievements, promotes love of reading and become better citizens.

Quiz 1 for Midterm

1. Describe how early Filipino express their artistry in:

A. Daily Life

                                               TRADITIONAL WEAVING CENTER

The first permanent exhibit of Philippine fabrics is now open at the National Museum and behind it is Sen. Loren Legarda, who has merged her advocacy for the environment with her passion for fashion to put up “Hibla ng Lahing Pilipino: Traditional Philippine Textile Gallery.”

Although National Museum director Dr. Jeremy Barns and technical adviser Dr. Ana Maria Theresa P. Labrador were receptive to the senator’s idea of a textile museum and offered her the museum’s own textile collection, Legarda said she was “frustrated” when she learned that everything was in a bodega (warehouse).
The fabric collection was classified according to geographical source, with each clothing or textile tagged with information as to its source, material, the tribe that produced it, and those who wear it. Most of the country’s indigenous fabrics are made from any or a combination of the following: abaca, cotton, piña (pineapple), silk, tree bark and bast that, Labrador said, is a “type of mulberry tree.”

                                                             KULINTANG
It is modern term for an ancient instrumental form of music composed on a row of small, horizontally-laid  gongs that function melodically, accompanied by larger, suspended gongs and drums. As part of the larger gong-chime culture of Southeast Asia, kulintang music ensembles have been playing for many centuries in regions of the Eastern Malay Archipelago the Southern Philippines, Eastern Indonesia, Eastern Malaysia, Brunei and Timor, although this article has a focus on the Philippine Kulintang traditions of the Maranao and Maguindanao peoples in particular.

In the Philippine Archipelago, several archaeological excavations have yielded a considerable quantity of pottery. Materials found in many archaeological sites indicate a period of time that go beyond the recorded history of the Philippines, suggesting the antiquity of the art of pottery in this country.

Give up tommorow

The GIVE UP TOMMOROW movie is a exposes a Kafkaesque extravaganza populated by flamboyantly corrupt public officials, cops on the take, and a frenzied legal and media circus. It is also an intimate family drama focused on the near mythic struggle of two angry and sorrowful mothers who have dedicated more than a decade to executing or saving one young man, Paco Larrañaga.

This is one of the best films I've seen this year. It's also the most important film I've seen. The film is the story of PACO LARRANAGA. He was arrested and convicted, along with six other people, for the kidnap and murder of the Chong sisters. The body of one of them (possibly, maybe it was her body) was found at the botton of a ravine. The people in the country were horrified and the persons responsible had to be found.
